After a shot maintenance break, version 0.88 will be made available. It introduces several UI changes. Please check the About-page for details. You might have to refresh the dupenet page before changes become visible.

Some functionality is not yet complete like password change. Those will be implemented soon.

Feedback is welcome as usual :)

Please logout, login and refresh before trying new features.

Have fun :)

You can now access the site using SSL: https://dupenet.com. I made self-signed certificate so you might have to accept some warnings.

Pls comment this blog entry if you have problems with SSL or plain http.

There is now a short maintenance break while I update several files. After it is done, please logout, login and reload. Ascii-viewer is now moved to release dialog and there is a new png-viewer.

Please refresh or reload the main index: I extended the Sphinx search a bit. Genre and group can be now easily filtered by mouse click.

For those who missed the new pre-site address, it is http://dupenet.com. Feel free to spread the word especially if you like the site.

If the site becomes popular I will roll out some new features.

Some instructions to beta-testers:

  • You need to register with a valid email address
  • You will receive an email with activation link. You must visit that link before you can login. If your email client doesn’t show the link or let you click it, just copy-paste the whole link the your browser
  • If you don’t receive activation email: check your spam folder first and wait for few minutes. If you still don’t get the activation email, you may have entered incorrect email address. In that case register with new username and valid email address
  • If you find any problems or bugs, post a comment here

Others: please don’t ask about beta-testing or membership. I will not invite new testers at this point. If testing goes well, I will post the details here next week or so.

Update 19-Feb: trying lighter color scheme. added refresh button, corrected minor bugs.

I decided to rewrite the site code utilizing jQuery and some suitable plug-ins like Datatables. This has taken longer than I expected. Currently it looks like the new site will be ready in 1-1,5 months. I could have re-used the old code adding user management, but jQuery does make it easier to add more user-friendly AJAX features.

Based on some recommendations and testing I decided to switch from Apache to nginx. Nginx should perform better with less resources. Porting the old code to nginx was quite easy. Basically I had to drop Apache rewrite-rules and implement more portable way of using “fancy URLs”.

I might open the new site still with old code and layout in case there will be more delays with AJAX-stuff. Comments are welcome.

I wrote email to persons who requested information about new developments. It is about temporary solution that some of you may want to use.
