Waiting for your feedback
@All: I have received first feedback from the site, so the feature seems to work :p
It was about NFO-download. I’m still unsure if that is a good idea – check older posts. I will return to this topic.
that would be the best if you can add a nfo download
Maybe, and only maybe – it would be possible, if the nfos will be uploaded to services like pastebin & other paste-sites. So it’s no download directly and just a plaintextview. Each user now has the chance to decide to copy & paste it, or leave it like it is. But indeed – max got some weird problems in the past caused by the ability to download the textfiles.
Yes, it’s weird indeed. But it seems, that text can an will infringe copyright in some eyes. Max got resurrected the service with dupenet, what it’s a great site to check for releases (for the content-mafia: check != download! understand it! I know, you don’t and won’t ever will – but i have to underline it again! Take your lawbooks and hit yourself that hard. Maybe you’ll understand the last sentence.)
So… the only chance for a possible download is & only will be – is using public texthosting-services like pastebin. The dark side is… you’ve no control about the availability. Like: what happens, if pastebin (or similar service) kicks an nfo? What will be, if the services will be down and mainly: what to do, if the service will be discontinued?
Lets play with this idea:
• Max will have to write a script, that check the availability on the texthoster
• If a nfo is down, the nfo has to be uploaded & linked again. At worst case, all downloadable nfos are down & Max has to rewrite the script. Also he has to update each link and upload each nfo again to a new service with same risks before.
• Maybe the “mafia” demands, that the linking to plaintext-nfos is “illegal” too and all the work was fpr nothing.
Small steps… i understand Max and can advise him. But nobody knows the future and the whole risks are laying at his own shoulders.
@Ano Nymous: excellent comment, thx! Tasty food for thought
you could do it the same way as nzbindex.nl. they have a link called “different view” and when you click on it you can’t download but copy the nfo. after that you can paste it in an editor, save and be happy :>
example: http://www.nzbindex.nl/nfo/55376582/68592-FULL-a.b.teeveeEFNet-Rookie.Blue.S02E08.PROPER.720p.HDTV.x264-2HD-2929-rookie.blue.s02e08.proper.720p.hdtv.x264-2hd.nfo.nzb/?q=
@puppl: thx, this sounds like a possible way to get NFOs without actually downloading. I’ll look into this.
Max, Dupenet keeps getting better and better ! Wicked Awesome ! Big Thanx !
@LaMeR: ty, much appreciated!
thanx max for all your hard work
Max, just popped in to say I checked back on your site (after a long while since your many changes started). It’s simply badass again, keep up the classact job, mate, youre one of those last of Mohicans, respect & cheers!
@preduser: thx! Last Mohican sounds nice
@All: thx to all who have sent feedback; much appreciated. I’ve tried to fix the problems you mentioned, but unfortunately I don’t always have time to reply to your messages.
Max,
could you add a feature to list only releases from current day (or a specified data)?
Thanks in advance.
@LaGuNa: many users have requested this. Date-filter will be done, but my other projects delay the site development
